SEO for painting contractors

SEO for painting contractors, measured

SEO for painting contractors gets a painting company found when homeowners search Google and Google Maps for interior painting, exterior painting or wallpaper near them. It covers the Business Profile, service and town pages, reviews and local links. This is what it did for a New Jersey painting and wallpaper contractor we started with in July 2026.

How we work

What we do for painting contractors

Month to month, no long contract. You own the website, the rankings and everything we build. You work with the founder, Dylan Oliva.

  • Teardown. We go through your Google Business Profile, your website and the companies outranking you, and find why the phone isn't ringing.
  • Rank. Service and town pages built to rank, plus citations and backlinks that push you up the Map Pack.
  • Reviews. A steady review system, so you out-rank and out-trust the other companies in your area.
  • Convert. Speed-to-lead and automated follow-up, so calls and old leads turn into booked jobs.

Where we start

What we fix first for a painting contractor

People hiring a painter tend to search the exact job: interior painting, exterior painting, cabinet painting, wallpaper installation. Each of those is its own search, and the first pass makes sure there is a page and a profile entry ready for each one.

  • The Google Business Profile lists every service you sell, with wallpaper and specialty finishes called out if you do them.
  • Before and after photos from real jobs go up regularly, with the room or the house type described.
  • Each service gets a page, and each town you want work in gets a page with real local detail.
  • Review requests ask customers to say what you painted, so the reviews themselves match searches.

The wallpaper example on the card shows why the split matters. Wallpaper installation was a search the New Jersey contractor did not show up for at all, and by October it held half the map grid.

What the numbers mean

Reading the painting results

Top 10 searches counts the different searches where the website showed up on Google's first page in a given week, from Search Console. Visits from Google counts clicks from those searches. Calls from the Google Business Profile is Google's own count of people who tapped call on the listing.

The map grid number comes from our weekly Google Maps scans: we check the same search from a grid of points around the business and count the points where it shows up. Going from 0 to 50 percent for wallpaper installer near me means half of those points now show the business.

None of the four numbers counts leads. The company also ran paid Local Services Ads in the same months, so a lead count would mix the two.

Every month

A normal month for a painting company

The steady work after the first month is unglamorous and it adds up. Each week a few new pages or articles go live for the services and towns people search. The Google profile gets one to three posts a week, ideally with photos from that week's jobs. Links come in every month inside a set budget, and every link is listed so you know what you paid for.

You get a weekly report page instead of a monthly PDF. It shows calls from the Google profile, visits from Google, how many searches put you on page one and the weekly map scan results. Every number carries its dates and its source, the same way the card above does.

Seasonality matters for painters. Exterior work slows in winter in colder states, so we try to have the exterior pages ranking before spring, when people start asking for quotes.

Questions

Questions owners ask

Is SEO worth it for a house painting business?

For the contractor above, calls from the Google Business Profile went from 9 in the year before we started to 15 in the 13 weeks after. Painting jobs are local and people compare a few companies before calling, so being on the map for your towns matters. We look at your area and your numbers before saying it will pay for you.

What's the best SEO company for painting contractors?

There is no ranking of SEO companies for painters that we would trust, including one we wrote. Judge any company on a painting client's real numbers with dates, on whether you keep the site and pages if you leave, and on who you will talk to each week. Our painting client's numbers are the card on this page.

How do I get my painting company more calls from Google?

Split your services into their own pages, like interior, exterior, cabinets or wallpaper, and add a page for each town you want work in. Fill the Google Business Profile with real before and after photos and ask every happy customer for a review that says what you painted.

Can ChatGPT do SEO?

It can help with research and first drafts. It can't verify your Business Profile, earn reviews from your customers or get local sites to link to you, and its drafts need checking before they go on your site. We use AI for research and checks, and a person reviews every page before it goes live.
